Amazing Mashed Potatoes

These potatoes are amazing with, or without gravy.

Amazing Mashed Potatoes

5 lb potatoes
1/2-1 cube butter
1 cup milk
3/4 cup sour cream

Peel and cut potatoes, then boil in salted water until they break apart when pierced with a fork.  Meanwhile, place butter and milk in a microwavable bowl and heat until butter is completely melted.  When potatoes are done, drain well and return to pan.  Add butter/milk mixture, sour cream, and pepper to the potatoes (I usually don't add salt at this point. I wait until they are smashed, then taste-test them to see how much more salt they need after cooking in the salted water). Mash with a potato masher.  Add more salt if needed, then serve.
